February 27, 2004: What can stand out and blow your mind the most in a week of mindblowing events? The fifth and final night of the Up Records Tenth Anniversary week of concerts was a concert headlined by Quasi, featuring Duster and Violent Green. Duster are planning on recording and putting out a record on Up this year, but they hadn't played a concert in a long time (like years). People were completely ecstatic to get even an opportunity to see Duster play, people who had never gotten that opportunity before. That in itself, the fact that Duster played, period, was mindblowing enough. But can you believe this? As Violent Green, Jenny Olay played with Steve Fisk -- a man held in very high esteem by Chris Takino - and Violent Green haven't had a concert in longer than Duster, even. One might think that after so much time having passed since their last performances, that the ones this night would be lackluster or mediocre. But if you were there, or hear tell of the event, this night's show was far, so far, from anything except greatness. The performance by Violent Green can only be described as beautiful, and many people who attended described it just so. Duster are Duster, Duster are amazing. Meanwhile, all Quasi did was play the show of their lives. Quasi astounded one and all. They also played for a really long time. They made for a very excellent end to a truly, honestly, beautiful week that consisted of a family of wonderful people reuniting and coming together to do something that we hope and feel is great. Thank you to one and all, purveyor or fan of Up Records.
