Originally hailing from two very different parts of the country, Illinois and Texas, Julio and Starla met up in Seattle and decided to start a band together with Starla playing guitar and singing and Julio handling the drums (even though Julio had no previous experience on the drums) as well as adding other instrumentation here and there, most notably the clarinet.
After working together for a couple of years they decided to record what became On The One.
Before Up could get a hold of it, our friend Brian over at RxRemedy put it out in 1998.
The Bees then started working on their next record, My Pleasure, which was released in 2000 on Up. Due to surgery and illness, and the opening of a small business (hothousespa.com), the Bees have never really gotten it together to tour extensively.
They are truly SICK bees. Or rather, they were...
After recovering from their injuries, the Bees got serious about setting up a recording studio, which they have been working on and in for the last several years.
A tour is in the works in support of their brilliant new 13-song EP entitled The Marina Album, which is out now!
They are also finishing up their third full length, the self-recorded "Holy" and are planning on melting minds across the country this Fall.
