 Bio

Rick Sabo is a weird, cool guy who made a couple of 7" in the mid 90's that are completely amazing. Sadly, he was involved in an old school management deal screw-over that seems to have left him less than excited to make more music. Last time any of us saw him, he was working in a coffee shop and living above it in a loft in the University district. He has been seen recently around those parts as well, but we haven't heard of him playing live in some time now. This writers first experience with hearing Rick Sabo was quite a long time ago, in the early 90's walking home after buying some groceries... As I was getting close to my apartment, I saw some guy sitting on the sidewalk with a mini-amp playing guitar, and I thought, "damn, should I take a side street so I don't have to hear whatever mess is coming out of that amp?" Well, I didn't take the side street for whatever reason, most likely because of inertia, so I kept walking and as I got closer I started to notice a few things: His mini-amp looked real beat up. His guitar looked worse, the next best thing to having been run over by a truck. So I was starting to think "I really should have taken that side street..." (the wind was blowing the wrong way so I couldn't hear what he was playing...) I finally got close enough to hear him, and I literally stopped in my tracks. My jaw dropped. I stood there stunned for several minutes. It was just one of those things, you see some guy playing guitar on the street and you don't expect to have your mind blown, I would guess that some lucky folks would have had a similar experience seeing Damo Suzuki busking in the late sixties or early seventies, Rick was that good... You should do yourself a favor and listen to the two songs he recorded for us.. the only negative is the lack of more songs, as you'll be wishing for more.
