 Bio
Brent Arnold is a Seattle-based musician and composer. Besides playing the cello and singing, he is known to play guitar, keyboards, bass, viola, drums, Chinese spike fiddle, accordion, and whatever else is around. He has played with or done arranging for many groups including Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Sleater-Kinney, The Go-Betweens, 764-Hero, Mike Johnson, Jana McCall, Aiko Shimada, Mark Lanegan, Quasi, Eyvind Kang, and the Ruby Doe. In 1999, Up Records released his 7" single Sweetness/ Perversion. The self-titled CD by his project Thickness was released the same year, on RGI. He also plays with chaotic experimentalists Project W, who released a CD in 1996 on Apraxia and an LP in 1999 on Shrat Field Recordings. They have opened for Sonic Youth and Kinski. He has composed scores to several plays and short films, including BlueCoatedStory (1999), directed by Eric Maahs. His current band, The Spheres, plays dense, orchestrated rock/pop music with cello, viola, keyboards, guitar, lap steel, and drums. They have played some recent shows around Seattle and are working with producer Phil Ek (Built to Spill) to release their first album, "Last Boat" which is due out in February 2004 on Up Records.
